Master of Public Policy at University of Erfurt

The Master of Public Policy (MPP) at the Brandt School, University of Erfurt, is a 2-year interdisciplinary degree program designed for young academics and professionals who wish to pursue a career in public service, including government agencies, international organizations and the non-profit sector. The MPP program consists of a core curriculum (policy analysis, leadership, management modules), an internship and an intensive policy project (practical training module), elective courses taken from 5 potential areas of specialization, and soft skills and language training courses that will equip students with the knowledge and practical skills they need to advance public interest and make sound policy decisions.

During the first 3 semesters students complete both the core curriculum and the specialization modules. The 4th semester is devoted to the master thesis. Drawn from political science, economics, sociology, public administration and law, the MPP curriculum builds the skills and knowledge base required of a professional policy analyst. It includes courses in political and economic analysis, statistics, public management and ethics. Throughout the coursework, research and field experience, students develop their understanding of the policy process and the institutions and actors involved in that process.

Applicants must have at the minimum, a German “Abitur”, a General Secondary Education Certificate, or a high school diploma or international equivalent, as well as a university diploma awarded for an academic program with a duration of a minimum of 6 semesters of study, ideally in subjects from the social sciences, economics, or law.
