Are you a young person living with HIV and passionate about making a difference in your community, country, region and globally? They are looking for committed youth advocates to join the Board of the Global Network of Young People Living with HIV (Y+ Global).
The role of the Y+ Global Board is to guide and strengthen the Y+ Global network and determine programmatic priorities; make decisions through a transparent process; ensure different communities of young people living with and affected by HIV from all regions are represented in Y+ Global decision-making and strengthen the leadership of young people from all corners of the globe.
The Y+ Board consists of nine young leaders, all under 30 and living with HIV. The team works towards the network’s vision and represents different regions.
Duties
The Board’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain ethical and transparent governance of Y+ Global;
- Oversee and support the implementation of the Y+ Globals’ strategic plan;
- Attend virtual and face-to-face meetings of the Board and its working groups (a communications stipend will be given to board members to cover internet and data, and Y+ Global will cover all expenses for face-to-face meetings);
- Participate in developing and reviewing relevant policies related to the health, well-being, and rights of young people living with and affected by HIV;
- Connect with the youth-led and youth-serving organisations and network from their region;
- Champion the values and goals of Y+ Global and provide inputs into the strategic direction of the organisation;
- Disseminate updates from Y+ Global to national and national, regional and global networks;
- Provide regular updates regarding emerging issues, current work and opportunities, and provide quarterly written updates from the region they represent;
- Represent Y+ Global in meetings and events as needed, which are determined by the Board through a transparent participant selection process. After the meetings or event is concluded, Board members are expected to report back within two weeks;
- Provide technical support to networks of young people living with and affected by HIV networks to engage in local and global HIV responses based on evidence-based needs and gaps and develop a technical assistance (TA) plan for Y+ Global;
- Recruit and support senior members of the Y+ Global secretariat;
- Annually review strategic documents (including, but not limited to, Memorandums of Understanding, Work Plans, Terms of Reference, governance and protocols, etc.)

- Serving on the board of Y+ Global can contribute to personal and professional growth by providing opportunities for self-reflection, learning, and development in a supportive and collaborative environment;
- Board members may gain visibility and recognition for their contributions and leadership, which can enhance their credibility, reputation, and future opportunities in their respective fields.
Eligibility
To apply, young leaders must be:
- Under the age of 30 from the time of applying;
- Be a national/citizen from one of the countries in the regions listed;
- Have a good command of the English language and be able to communicate at a comfortable level;
- Demonstrated experience working in national/regional HIV and SRH responses;
- Demonstrate experience working with youth-led or youth-serving organisations;
- Passionate about young people’s empowerment, leadership, and their meaningful engagement in health and decision-making process;
- Able to commit to a two-year term on a voluntary contract;
- Be open-minded, culturally sensitive, and willing to work with others through an inclusive approach;
- Be a team player and contribute ideas that will strengthen Y+ Global as a leading organisation for young people living with and affected by HIV.
