University of Queensland MPhil Scholarship for International Students in Australia (2020)

Applications are open for the University of Queensland MPhil Scholarship for International Students in Australia 2020.

This scheme is designed with the purpose of support research in the area of advanced preconditioning and fragmentation. Both domestic and international students are eligible to get this application .

The project is part of an international consortium funded by the BHP group in collaboration with Stanford Research Institute (USA) and Imperial College.

The scholarship offers a living stipend of $28,092 per annum tax-free (2020 rate)

Eligibility

  • Applications are open to applicants from all nationalities.
  • Applications are available for MPhil courses in the Engineering and Computing study areas

Application Requirements

Students are required to produce a thesis of no more than 40,000 words that demonstrates their capacity for critical analysis and application of specialist knowledge.

To meet the Graduate School admissions requirements for an MPhil, applicants must provide evidence of either of the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree with honours class IIB or better from approved universities, which includes relevant experience.
  • A postgraduate degree of at least one year full-time equivalent and an overall GPA (grade point average) equivalent to 5.0 on the 7-point UQ scale, which includes relevant experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree plus at least two years of documented relevant experience.
  • Evidence of other qualifications and/or experience to satisfy the Dean that the applicant is suitably qualified for admission

Applicants with overseas qualifications should refer to the GPA equivalency table.

English language proficiency requirements apply.

Selection Criteria:

  • Candidate should demonstrate excellence in academic achievement as evidenced by CGPA, rank within class.
  • Background in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering. Programming and analytical skills are essential.
  • Background in numerical modelling associated with explosive induced fracturing and fragmentation is desirable.
  • The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research
