The IAPS AI Policy Fellowship in the USA 2025 is a fully funded opportunity for professionals from diverse backgrounds who want to strengthen their policy skills in tackling advanced AI challenges. Applicants eligible for both the D.C. and remote options can apply for both, as selections are made separately. Choosing both on the application form is recommended to maximize the chances of selection.

During IAPS residency fellowship program in Washington, D.C., from September 1-12, fellows will attend training on AI systems and policy challenges and will also participate in different events like policy briefings, roundtable meetings, and networking sessions. Fellows can join the remaining program remotely from around the world and will receive a support budget for attending conferences, seminars, and meetings with their designated coordinator. Fellows who will attend the entire fellowship program in Washington will get office space and will attend regular in-person events to collaborate and engage with other participants.

This international fellowship program in USA is organised to facilitate an easy transition into the AI policy occupation. The program will prepare and teach important skills and knowledge required to excel in AI policy. Participants will get weekly guidance from their coordinator on project management, effectiveness, and career advancement. Fellows will get feedback on their progress from experts through weekly work-in-progress sessions. Participants will also get access to a professional network which will help to identify potential opportunities. In some cases, fellows can get additional financial help after the program to support career transitions.

Benefits

  • The in-person fellowship duration (September 1-12) will be fully funded. All travel expenses including air tickets, meals, and accommodation will be covered.
  • Senior fellows will receive a stipend of $22,000 to work full-time during this 3 months program.
  • Fellows will receive a stipend of $15,000 to work full-time during this 3 months program.
  • The host organisation can provide part-time options for exceptional fellows.
  • Technical expertise in AI systems is not necessary.
  • Fellows who will attend the complete program in Washington will get office space and will attend regular in-person events to collaborate and engage with other participants.

Eligibility

  • All fellows have to attend a required in-person residency in Washington D.C. from September 1- 12 but will have the option to attend the rest of the program in-person in D.C. or remotely.
  • Applicants can be from technical and policy backgrounds, like government, industry, expert groups, etc.
  • Applicants should have Fellow and Senior Fellow positions for an array of seniority levels.
  • Candidates should have the right to work in the U.S.
  • Candidates will be selected as a Fellow or Senior Fellow based on their expertise and experience.
