Deadline: June 8, 2025
D-Prize is a grant-funded nonprofit targeting extreme poverty. They seed social impact organizations that otherwise wouldn’t exist. Most founders in low- and middle-income countries don’t have access to startup capital, and they provide philanthropic seed support so their ventures, NGOs, & charities can launch.
They care about evidence-based impact. The world already has cost-effective products & services targeting poverty, and they specifically seed organizations to distribute these at scale where there is still need. Their vision is to see existing high-impact poverty interventions made universally accessible.
Grant
- They award startup grants of up to $20,000 to entrepreneurs launching new organizations. They believe the world needs more social impact organizations, and they seed for-profit ventures, NGOs, and charities.
Eligibility
- D-Prize is for new organizations. Most of their awardees are first-time entrepreneurs. Most have not yet launched their organization, nor have they raised other funding. They especially encourage those from low- and middle-income countries to apply.
- They will consider applications from existing organizations only if your core focus is distributing an existing and evidence-based poverty intervention. They typically will not support organizations with more than 18 months of full-time operations or that have raised more than $30,000 in outside funding.
