Applications are open for the EJN Communicators’ Workshop on Renewable Energy in India 2024. Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites communicators to join a workshop on renewable energy in Gaya, Bihar, from June 27-29, 2024. Communicators from Bihar and those with outlets that have large audiences in Bihar are eligible.
In recent months, policymakers have aimed to create an enabling environment to boost renewable energy capacity in Bihar. Positioned to offer “sunshine opportunities to investors” the state — whose economy is outpacing the national growth rate — has set a target to have renewable energy account for 40% of its total power consumption by 2030.
To improve public awareness of this ambitious target, the progress made till date and the road ahead, EJN is organizing a three-day workshop for communicators. The workshop sessions are designed to strengthen the skills of communicators to research and report on relatively less-discussed renewable energy issues in India, such as decentralized renewable energy, RE applications, biofuels, and transmission and distribution.
EJN will facilitate engagement between communicators, researchers, subject experts, policymakers and communities, providing an opportunity to gain knowledge and deepen understanding of the situation.
Cost
- The organizers will cover the cost of travel, accommodation, and meals of selected participants.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Commit to attending all days of the workshop.
- Have some experience reporting in one or more of the following areas: energy, environment, business, science.
