Eligibility

  • The traineeship is open to all EU citizens of any age, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria. A small number of spots are available for non-EU nationals in specific departments or services.
  • To apply, you must have a three-year higher education degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) with an official certificate from your university. You should have less than 6 weeks of work experience in any EU institution, agency, or body.
  • Language Requirements:
    • Administrative Traineeship: Two EU languages—one must be English, French, or German at C1/C2 level, and the second at B2 or higher.
    • For non-EU nationals: Only one language (English, French, or German) at the C1/C2 level.
    • Translation Traineeship: Translate from two EU languages into your main language.

Application

  • To apply successfully, the candidates must follow a three-step procedure.
  • In the first step, applicants must register on the European Commission Authentication Service by an EU login.
  • The new users have to create a profile.
  • Once you have created your login account use your email or ECAS username to proceed.
  • The second step is to complete your application.
  • The applicant can save the application and can log back in at any time.
  • In the motivation section, the applicant has to introduce his/her choice of DG’s, services, or agencies.
  • After completing the application the third step is the submission of the application.
  • Read carefully before submission. Once you submit the application form, you will not be able to make any changes.
  • If the application is submitted completely, the applicant will receive a confirmation receipt along with a candidate number.
  •  In case you don’t receive a candidate number, go to your application homepage and resubmit your application.
  • The applicants do not need to submit any document with the application.
  • Once you have proceeded to the first stage of the application you will then be required to submit proofs of your application statements.
