Applications are now open for the John Frazer Scholarship for honours and postgraduate research students at the University of Sydney.
The John Frazer Scholarship is an honours and postgraduate research scholarship that aims to support honours and postgraduate research students studying in the Department of History at the University of Sydney, Australia.
This scholarship was established in 2020 to provide assistance to honours and postgraduate research students studying in the Department of History to pursue advanced studies or research in the field of history. It is funded by a bequest made by the Honourable John Frazer, MLC in 1890.
Benefits
A successful recipient enrolled full-time will receive the Scholarship for up to one year and the Scholarship will be valued at:
- $5,000 per annum for full-time enrolled Honours students
- $8,500 per annum for full-time enrolled Masters by Research or PhD students.
Eligibility
Applicants must be currently enrolled to study within the Department of History, School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry (SOPHI), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney in one of the following degrees:
- Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History
- Combined Bachelor of Arts/Advanced Studies final year (Honours in History)
- Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Honours in History)
- Masters by Research, or PhD.
NB: Masters by Research or PhD students must be conducting research in the field of History.
Selection Criteria
The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
- Academic Merit
- Curriculum Vitae
- Referee report from their academic supervisor
- Personal statement which describes how the Scholarship will assist them in their studies.
