Application Deadline: September 1, 2020
The Empirical Studies of Conflict Project (ESOC) at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering (ORFE) at Princeton University seek candidates for a two-year postdoctoral research associate position in the area of Development Finance starting on or about September 1, 2020.
The appointment will be through the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs. In addition to pursuing their own independent research, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will play a key role in supporting the new Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies Research Community on Development Finance in fragile and conflict-affected states.
The first main objective will be working with ORFE on a structure of risk measures appropriate to assessing decisions to mobilize finance in fragile states. Key technical questions are to develop a framework of risk measures appropriate to assessing threats, and to leverage modern machine learning tools to harness the information in large visual, verbal, and numerical localized data now available. The second objective will be collaborating with ESOC in the development of a publicly available development finance dataset on development finance in fragile states.
The position provides an outstanding opportunity for collaboration with Princeton faculty, graduate and undergraduate students. There are no teaching obligations.
