The 2024 Pollicy Fellowship: Empowering Data Innovators in Civic Tech

The fellowship program is designed to provide students and young professionals with a unique opportunity to engage with civic tech and research initiatives. By leveraging their data skills, fellows will contribute to expanding the knowledge base in the field while gaining hands-on experience and fostering collaboration with civic tech innovators. The 6-month fellowship offers a platform for participants to explore the intersection of data, technology, and government services, with a focus on promoting equitable data practices.

Duration: 6 Months

The fellowship period spans six months, during which fellows will actively collaborate with civic tech innovators, conduct exploratory research, and enhance their capacity in utilizing data for social impact. Participants are expected to dedicate their time to various activities, including conducting final research, creating multimedia products, developing blog posts and training curricula, and hosting both online and offline events. Throughout the program, fellows will work closely with the Pollicy team and partners within the civic tech community.

Available Fellowship Positions

Pollicy aims to recruit and empower five dynamic individuals for the 2024 fellowship program. The available positions are as follows:

  1. Grants and Growth (Business Development) Fellow (Remote or Kampala)
  2. Communications and Development Fellow (Remote or Kampala)
  3. Research Fellows, Francophone and Anglophone (Uganda) – 2 positions
  4. Data Fellow (Kampala)

Fellowship Positions Details

1. Grants and Growth (Business Development) Fellow

This position offers the flexibility of working remotely or from our Kampala office. The fellow will play a crucial role in supporting Pollicy’s initiatives related to grants and business development.

2. Communications and Development Fellow

Whether working remotely or based in Kampala, the Communications and Development Fellow will contribute to enhancing Pollicy’s outreach and development efforts.

3. Research Fellows, Francophone and Anglophone

Two positions are available in Uganda for Research Fellows. They will focus on conducting in-depth research on topics related to using data and civic tech to improve government services.

4. Data Fellow

Based in Kampala, the Data Fellow will actively engage in leveraging data for civic tech initiatives, contributing to Pollicy’s mission of using data for positive social change.
