The Finland Ministry for Foreign Affairs annually funds experts for temporary UN volunteer missions. They have funded Finns for UN volunteer missions since 1974. Volunteers are placed in the country offices of organizations located in Finland’s bilateral co-operation partner countries and in other developing countries where multilateral organizations operate, complementing bilateral development co-operation.
The term of office of the UN Volunteer position is basically two years, but success in the position also allows for a third year. The minimum age for the UN Volunteer position is 25 years; there is no upper age limit. Volunteers do not receive their actual salary, but are paid a monthly living allowance (Living Allowance).

Benefits
Volunteers do not receive their actual salary, but are paid a monthly living allowance (Living Allowance).
Eligibility
Applicants are required to have:
• Finnish citizenship
• A university degree
• At least two years of work experience in the field
• Proficiency in Finnish or Swedish
• Excellent oral and written proficiency in English. Other language skills are an advantage.

Coaching courses for those going on development tasks: Before leaving, persons selected for voluntary assignments may participate in a basic course on development policy and co-operation organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs , which introduces them to Finland’s development policy program and forms of development co-operation.

• UNV will announce the selected candidates to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on 22 May 2020
• UNV will send the applications of the selected candidates to the organizations for interview and selection on 2.6.2020
• Organizations confirm the selected candidate, UNV notifies the selected candidate and starts recruitment 26.6.2020
• Departure to the station country from 7.9.2020 at the earliest
