Deadline: March 20 2024
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Nansen Refugee Award, also known as the global laureate, is given annually to a person or group that has devoted their time to aiding those who have been forcibly displaced from their homes. Since 2017, a number of regional winners have also been honored annually.
Benefits
- A commemorative medal and a cash reward of $100,000 will be awarded to the 2024 global laureate, who will use it to further the humanitarian causes for which they are being honored.
- A lesser monetary award will be given to certain regional winners so they may continue their charitable efforts.
Eligibility
- A nominee for the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Prize may come from anybody. You can re-nominate someone you’ve already nominated but who didn’t win.
- The strongest nominations will include three credible references who can attest to the nominee’s integrity and influence and a thorough description of the candidate’s efforts and accomplishments for displaced or stateless individuals. References shouldn’t all be provided by the same company or group.
- Self-nominations are strictly discouraged, if you please note that. Employees of the UNHCR, present or past, are ineligible.
