USTC Fellowship program in China provides comprehensive and competitive scholarships for international students and scholars. Through these fully funded fellowships, USTC aims to create an excellent setting for study and research. The rapid and constant development of USTC’s foreign education program is directly connected to its top-notch research and teaching methodology. The university, which has been labelled the “cradle of future scientists,” is renowned for its cutting-edge engineering and science programs, as well as its distinctive management and humanities programs.
USTC offers fellowships for undergraduate, master’s and PhD students in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering science, electronics information, computer science, earth and space sciences, environmental science, and more. The university provides 94 PhD programs, 115 master’s programs, and 35 undergraduate programs to international students. All programs offer different levels of scholarship which have different benefits and perks. The host institution will award the most suitable scholarship according to each student’s application form.
During this fully funded fellowship in China, The International College will host numerous vibrant campus events and field trips for international students. These recreational activities make the studying experience at USTC richer and more enjoyable.

Benefits
USTC Fellowship for undergraduate programs are offered in 2 levels.
- Level A includes tuition waiver, medical insurance, monthly stipend of 2,500 CNY and accommodation subsidy.
- Level B includes includes tuition fees waived off.
USTC Fellowship for master’s programs are offered in 2 levels.
- Level A includes tuition waiver, medical insurance, monthly stipend of 3,000 CNY and accommodation subsidy.
- Level B includes tuition fees waived off and subsidy for Teacher assistance or Research assistance will be available.
USTC Fellowship for doctoral programs are offered in 3 levels.
- Level A includes tuition fees waiver, medical insurance and monthly stipend of up to 7,000 CNY.
- Level B includes tuition fees waiver, medical insurance, monthly stipend of 3,500 CNY and accommodation subsidy.
- Level C includes tuition fees waiver, and subsidy for Teaching Assistance or Research Assistance will be available.
Eligibility
Applicants applying:
- Should be citizens of a country other than China. (For all programs and levels)
- Should have a valid passport. (For all programs and levels)
- Be in good physical and mental health. (For all programs and levels)
- For undergraduate must have a high school diploma, for master’s programs must have bachelor’s degree, for doctoral program must have master’s degree.
- Should submit Pre-graduation Certificate to confirm that they will get their degrees before this scholarship. (For all programs and levels)
- For undergraduate programs must be under 30 years old, for master’s programs should not be older than 35 years, for doctoral program level A should be under 35 years old, for level B should be under 45 years old.
- For undergraduate should pass Chinese language course new HSK Level 5 or above, for master’s and doctoral programs should pass Chinese language course new HSK Level 4 or above.
- Are not eligible for undergraduate scholarship if they have been awarded any other Chinese scholarship.
- For doctoral programs should not be currently doing their PhD degree from any university in China.
- Must provide proof of English language proficiency. (For all programs and levels)
- Should meet the admission criteria for international students set by USTC. (For all programs and levels)
- Are not allowed to participate in any other assignment during scholarship period. (For all programs and levels).
Application
- First create an account in the USTC Application System.
- Choose the program and fellowship level that you want to apply for.
- You can apply for all levels at the same time but will be selected for only one level based on your application.
- Enter all the information asked in the form.
- Upload all the required the documents.
- Review and submit the form.
Required Documents
For Undergraduates:
- Photocopy of passport.
- Official photocopies of senior high school graduation certificate and transcripts.
- Pre-graduation Certificate issued by senior high school.
- Photocopies of Certificate of new HSK Level 5 and transcripts.
- Filled Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
- Recommendation letter from senior high school.
- Guardian Statement for under 18 years old candidates.
- Emigrants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan applying as international students should submit the Immigration certificate, Proof of cancellation of the original Chinese citizenship, Photocopy of the passport pages with customs stamps, and Proof of living abroad.
For Masters:
- Photocopy of passport.
- A study or research proposal (min 800 words).
- CV
- 2 letters of recommendation including contact details.
- Filled Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
- Photocopy of HSK certificate.
- English proficiency test certificate.
- Photocopy of official degree certificate and academic transcripts for Bachelor’s degree.
- Pre-graduate Degree certificate.
- Employment certificate.
For Doctoral programs:
- Photocopy of passport (ordinary passport.
- A study or research proposal (minimum 800 words).
- CV
- 2 letters of recommendation with contact details.
- Filled Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
- Photocopy of HSK certificate.
- Certificate of English proficiency of IELTS or TOEFL.
- Photocopy of official degree certificate and academic transcripts for both Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree.
- Pre-graduate Degree certificate.
