Application Deadline: January 12, 2021
World Press Photo Foundation invites applications for the 2021 Digital Storytelling Contest for visual creators and storytellers worldwide.
Muyi Xiao, chair of the 2021 Digital Storytelling Contest jury, encourages all digital storytellers to enter: “The more people who submit their work, the more we all can learn. It is less about scoring work and giving out awards and more about the discussions that happen in the process and the reflections we have upon engaging with stories.”
The 2021 Digital Storytelling Contest marks the 11th edition of the contest, first introduced in 2011 by the World Press Photo Foundation as the ‘Multimedia Contest’. The Digital Storytelling Contest celebrates the diversity of formats made possible by digital platforms and the constant developments in documentary film and interactive storytelling. The contest is open to digital storytellers, visual journalists, producers, and entry coordinators, with submissions that include the work of a professional visual journalist.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the judging of the 2021 World Press Photo Digital Storytelling Contest will take place online.
